Derrick Davis, Director of Parking and Transportation, Georgia Southern University

After working in finance for years and owning a family photography and video business for nearly 10 years, Derrick embarked on his auxiliary services journey with a career start at Savannah College of Art and Design. For 2.5 years, he was a Technical Operations Manager in their ID Card Office, managing their campus card, meal plans, parking citation payments, equestrian billing, and monitoring the SCAD Card program that is accepted at 120 businesses in downtown Savannah.

Derrick later accepted a position with Savannah State University, where he worked in Parking and Transportation as the Parking Manager and Risk & Compliance Manager for 4 years. Currently, Derrick has served as the Director of Parking and Transportation for Georgia Southern for over 5 years and continues to effectively manage parking operations on the Statesboro, Savannah & Liberty campuses. Georgia Southern has 4 LPR cars, issue virtual permits, issue e-citations to customers’ GS email, and use a web-based app with over 300 Pay-to-park spaces.  Derrick and his team are always looking to innovate and increase efficiency with new parking technologies. He has also served as Communications/Technology Coordinator for NACAS South from 2018-2022.

He is married to his college sweetheart, and the two share three children, Lauren, Rachel and Caleb.  Away from work he enjoys traveling, watching college football and is hoping to be CAPP certified soon.
